Stalling: Progression is key! Any inactivity will be called out and the match will reset in a negative position for the stalling athlete or back on the feet if both athletes.
Rules/Scoring: Whilst this competition is submission focussed, we don't like draws. So, the two judges will score for valid submission attempts, takedowns and progressive attacks.
Each final will go to an overtime round if there is no clear winner.
The only DQs are for striking or inappropriate behaviour towards the referees, volunteers or other competitors. Illegal submission attempts will be stopped and the match will be reset with the offender in a negative position.
For Gi, all first round matches are 5 mins. Blue belt and purple belt finals are 7 mins. Brown and black belt finals are 10 mins.
For No Gi, all intermediate first round matches are 5 mins, all finals are 7 mins. For Advanced, all matches are 8 mins, for expert, all matches are 10 mins.
